The Triwizard Tournament!

For Elias' 6th birthday party, he wanted a Harry Potter theme. Since we are starting the 4th book, we decided to host a Triwizard Tournament.

King's Cross Station

SORTING

First up, all the young wizards and witches had to be sorted into
their proper houses: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin

There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I vill tell you
vhere you ought to be.

ENTRY INTO THE TOURNAMENT

"Anybody vishing to submit themselwes as champion must vrite their name and school clearly upon a slip of parchment and drop it into the goblet. Any of you vishing to compete that this tournament is not to be entered into lightly. Once a champion has been selected by the Goblet of Fire, he or she is obliged to see the tournament through to the end. The placing of your name in the goblet constitutes a binding, magical contract. There can be no change of heart once you have become a champion. Please be wery sure, therefore, that you are vholeheartedly prepared to play before you drop your name into the goblet."

OLLIVANDERS

Each wizard and witch chose and decorated their wand.

"The vand chooses the vizard. That much has alvays been clear to those of us vho hawe studied vandlore... If you are any vizard at all you vill be able to channel your magic through almost any instrument. The best results, hovewer, must alvays come vhere there is the strongest affinity betveen vizard and vand. These connections are complex. An initial attraction, and then a mutual quest for experience, the vand learning from the vizard, the vizard from the vand."

Of course we had Honeydukes and The Leaky Cauldron (not pictured) available for our guests...

THE TOURNAMENT

"Eternal glory! That's what awaits the student who wins the Triwizard Tournament, but to do this, that student must survive three tasks. Three extremely dangerous tasks."

For the tournament, we separated all the children into teams (Beaubaton, Hogwarts, and Durmstag).

THE FIRST TASK

"The first task is designed to test your daring, so we are not going to be telling you what it is. Courage in the face of the unknown is an important quality in a wizard... very important [...] "
—Bartemius Crouch Sr. regarding the first task

An egg hunt for dragon eggs and a Hungarian Horntail with water guns (fire)!

THE SECOND TASK

"Well, all our champions are ready for the second task, which will start on my whistle. They have precisely an hour to recover what has been taken from them."
—Ludo Bagman introduces the second task

Each object had points in which total points were added or
subtracted. Try not to get a mer-duck!

THE THIRD TASK

"Oh, find the cup, if you can, but be careful. You might just lose yourself along the way."
—Albus Dumbledore on the danger of the third and final task

Complete the maze drawn in the grass to find your cup!

The Birthday Champion

And of course, you can't forget to rid the party of demeanors!

Expecto Patronum!

When defeated, dementors expose with candy.
Be sure to eat chocolate to ward off any ill feelings!
Great fun was had by all for such a memorable party!!!
