Silly O'Shenanigans

This has been one LONG and HARD winter! We have barrel fever!!! So much that we are starting to get silly around the edges...

Elias LOVES, I mean LOVES dinosaurs! He's quite obsessed actually. They are covering the topic in preschool this month much to his approval. He comes home singing many different dino songs set to the tunes of "We will Rock You" and such. He insists on wearing his dino helmet ALL THE TIME! He even takes his toy dinos out for walks. On the Cultural Trail we found this Apatosaurus loose!

I guess all he wanted was some hot chocolate from Calvin Fletcher's Coffee Shop.

Emmett on the other hand is starting to get his first tastes of people food. He's not really ingesting any significant amount of food yet (we will wait until 6 months to do that), but he is enjoying different tastes. Here is his first taste of avocado. Yum!

Oh Mr. Carrot, how I wuv to teethe on you...

Emmett is also turning out to be quite the bruiser. Don't worry, they are just that--bruises. But it goes to show he's getting more mobile. He loves to roll!

For St. Patty's Day we spent the day with old friends and Prof. Scott taught the boys how to play the organ. Elias was pretty excited about this new instrument.

We hope spring comes soon with her warmer days. We are tired of this winter!!!!

Swinging in Spring

Hello there fellow readers! We finally got a little nice weather around here. So out of the barrel we all went to clear our heads and bodies of weeks and weeks of being sick with upper respiratory infections. (Mama and Emmett are still struggling.) Yesterday we ventured out to the zoo. Of course Emmett was asleep the whole time (all that fresh air), but Elias had a ball taking pictures of all the animals that were out. Today,  we decided to get out, ride bikes/stroller walk, and head to the local park for a little swing time. It has been a long, hard winter for us so we are definitely ready for spring.

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'...Keep those babies Rollin'!

Happy Fourth Month Emmett!

This little monkey has been really moving right along. Yesterday he successfully rolled from his back to his belly and then to his back again!  Check out those abs! They are a lot stronger than they appear...

He really LOVES the water, both in the bath and when he went swimming for the first time.

He is now liking tummy time more. (We think it slows down his perspective...more exciting things happen at higher levels like his brother's craziness.)

He is fascinated with his reflection. Okay Narcissus...don't fall into the water. But really, how can you not just love looking at this handsome young man in the mirror?

All this activity signaled another era we are now entering: The Black and Blue Years.
This time in a hemophiliac's life is expected and is known to last a lifetime. We are not sure where one's bruises originate 95% of the time as they are a mystery. But we do know they are a sign of a active young man. Check out Emmett's first good little hematomas....

He also successfully got his first little goose egg on the back of his head. All minor incidences in a world of bleeding. Hopefully this guy is as tough as his big brother, which we most definitely think he is. We are just thankful that we live in an era of safe, effective medicine so that our monkeys can lead a near-normal life!

Emmett is a pretty good sleeper, that is at night. Apparently he is king of the cat-naps at school and then is so tired by the time he gets home that he is very fussy then sleeps from 8:30-2:30, 3-5, then up at 7. Why would you sleep when life is this exciting?!?!?

Fourth Month Stats:
Height: 26 1/2 inches (95th percentile)
Weight: 17 lbs 9 oz (92nd percentile)
Head: 44 cm (90th percentile)
Clothing size: 6-9 months, days away from 9 months exclusively. Looks like Mama needs to head back down to the basement this weekend and dig out some more clothes...
