Hiking for Hemos--Hemophilia walk 2013

Today we were Blessed with a beautiful Fall day. Cool, crisp and sunny morning. What better way to celebrate but to walk for a cause. A cause so very near and dear to our hearts. We want safe and effective treatment. We want equal opportunity. We want a cure.

Ryan White's mom and Val Bias, the president of NHF joined us.

Getting ready for his first (really second) walk.

We are happy to have raised $1500 for research and awareness. Thank you to all that came out and supported us...

Our Little Bruisers...

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING POST IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART WHEN IT COMES TO NEEDLES....

Oh hemophilia...to us this is just an every day thing. Some days it's so natural and easy and then other days we spend trying hold our spirits together. In the end, we are stronger and we are not letting this condition run our lives even though she will follow us like that piece of gum on your shoe. Some days its sticky and some days it's like it not even there.

Elias: He has had a port since he was one year of age. And he gets his medications about every other day. Set up and infusion takes no more than 5 minutes. Mama has a nifty cart that holds everything we need to set up in front of some cartoons.

He even loves to help!

Emmett: No port for a few more weeks. So he goes to the state hemophilia treatment center (they rock!) to get his now weekly dose. Once that port goes in he will most likely be on a schedule similar to his brother.

Mr. Chunky Monkey only has good access on his head.

Emmett got his first REAL bleed tonight.

Had to go to the ED for factor.
These things never happen when the IHTC is open.

If big brother gets a bleed/goose egg....

Little brother must to the same...

Hemo brothers...it's better to be black and blue together.

Oh What a Feelin'....

In the foot steps of his Mama, Elias has started taking dance lessons at the local ballet studio. He gets ballet and a little tap.

We also got to see a dance performance that first day about a tap dancing superhero. At the end, Elias and his friend were invited on stage to shimmy sham. He loved being in the lights!

Perhaps a star has been born....

Let's Ride...the Dinosaur Train...

A couple of weeks back we went on a prehistoric journey to a Mesozoic land. We had to board a train to get there. Check out what you get to see when you ride the Dinosaur Train...

Prehistoric sharks

Brachiosaurus

Winged things

Sure they played a little mini-golf...

And our junior paleontologists dug for bones

But best of all we got to meet a very famous T-Rex named Buddy!

Uh-Oh look who's the big 1-0!!!

Emmett is 10 months old now. We have been spending the last month chasing and finger walking with our little guy. He's also very verbal and his favorite thing to say is "Uh-Oh!" Well as you can see by the small bump on his forehead (more on that later), he's definitely exploring his gross motor skills...
