A Memorial Weekend

Good morning fellow readers! We have had quite the busy weekend around here. We celebrated our not-so-little-anymore monkey's birthday! He's now all boy. Long gone are the days of a baby.

Last week, Daddy and Elias went to the track with his class to see some famous race cars. We live in the city with the Greatest Spectacle in Racing--The Indianapolis 500. Although Elias is not quite old enough to go to the race, he still got to experience "Race weekend."

In the Driver's Seat

Even one of his BFF's got in

What better way to start of the weekend but with a little "clean up"? We love going to our neighborhood Barber Shop to visit Sandy the Barber.

Mommy completed a successful Pinterest project and made Elias an outdoor chalkboard for his birthday present.

One of the highlights was Elias' birthday party. Elias loves Legos and especially The Legends of Chima--a new world/line of Legos released this year complete with animal tribes and racing speedorz.

Welcome to the Land of Chima!

Birthday Boy!

Snack Table, complete with a hanging Chi

Desserts and Drinks

Since we have recently figured out that Elias is sensitive to food dyes and additives, we were able to throw a dye-free party. The kids had fun with healthy snacks (all of Elias' favorite snack foods like popcorn, pretzels, chips, cheese crackers, M&M's, jelly beans, fruit) and even blue velvet chocolate cupcakes.

Chi Ball

How many boys can you fit inside and roll it?

We had very special guests to the party--Coyote Chris and his animals.
He even brought along a Chima animal.

Little Bunny Foo-Foo

A turtle

Slimy Tree Frog

Where's he Hound for this Fox?
He almost got loose in our yard and the kids squealed in glee.

Elias was brave and held the Milk Snake

But not the hissing cockroach...

Will was brave!

Phew! Does someone smell a skunk?

Elias loved holding the baby chick!

And Cromius the baby alligtor

We played "Pin the head on the Legoman," complete with Chima character Leonidas, Eris, and Cromius.

Took a few swings at a Lego PiƱata that Elias and Mommy built.

In the end, it took Daddy to break out the toys and snacks

No party is complete without candles and cake...

...and of course presents!

Even little Emmett had a good time!

It was all around a great party!

After all the party excitement, the next day we decided to head to the Indiana State Museum during the race to catch a new and exciting exhibit that opened this weekend...

A couple of Wookies...

Master Yoda...

And of course Elias' favorite Darth Vader

We even ran into our BFF Monkey who LOVES Star Wars!

Light Saber Action
The weekend was rounded out with a quick trip to the zoo and some Cultured Swirl frozen yogart. All around successful we would say!

Got Down on It and Mommy Celebration...

This past Mother's Day Weekend was quite busy in the barrel. Our barrel is located in a great neighborhood of Indianapolis that is connected to the downtown area by means of a new Cultural Trail. Mama and Elias worked very hard to prepare for the grand opening event with decorating and organizing events. Here's how we Got Down On It...

Making artwork to "Bridge the Trail"

Bridging the Trail: Fountain Square to Fletcher Place

The parade

A little Fletcher Place Neighborhood History

Later that day, Elias made his running debut (since he wants to be a runner when he grows up...)

And they're off!!!

Breaking away from the pack

Guess who came in 1st?!?

Later we met up with a new friend to enjoy Indiana's Basketball team in the middle of the NBA playoffs. First basketball game was a success!!!

For Mother's Day, the boy monkeys treated their mama to a nice brunch, allowed her a long nap, and brought her favorite chocolate beet cake from the local foodie restaurant. We were all pretty tired from the activities the day prior...

Half-way to One

Emmett is our lovey, cuddly man. He smiles at us with that toothless grin in which melts your heart every time. He's very happy. He loves his big brother. He babbles "A-yah-yah-yah-yah" and squeals all the time. He loves the water and bath time. He loves sitting up (his newly mastered skill) to play with his toys. He loves eating new foods (except peas today) and everything in sight!

One wild and crazy guy!

Mastering sitting this month.
Using the Thudguard for a little extra protection.

Favorite Toy: Ball Popper!

Elias will never know I have Bubbles...

Brother Love...

Just eat it, it, it...

Snuggles with Mama

This toy is so much cooler sitting up!

Is this what they mean by fiber in my diet?

Immunizations...
