Catchin' some tunes with Daddy

Last weekend we took Elias to his first not-in-belly music concert. Sure, he's heard Phish, Umphrey's, and the Dead while bouncing comfortably inside Mama's belly, but now it's time to see what it's al about on the outside. Elias was more interested in the rolling hills at the back of the concert so much that by the time the Avett Brothers came on during a brisk October night, he was fast asleep in Mama's arms in the Ergobaby

The Great Pumpkin Hunt

It's that time of year to go out in search of the "very special pumpkin." This year we decided to venture to Traders Point Creamery, the farm in which we support through drinking and eating many of their healthy and delicious dairy products as it is one of the best rated dairy producers right here in Indianapolis. They had a special event, Oktoberfest. In honor of a beautiful October day not only did we get to bring home our pumpkins, but we got to play a bit as well.

Fine Deutsches meal...

Tractor ride

Face Painting

"Now where is that pumpkin?"

Creamery Ice cream

There was even a drum circle and Gram, Daddy and Elias joined in...

Ah ha! A small but mighty pumpkin.
Elias has a grab and go mentality.
(Good thing Mama picked a pumpkin of more substantial size
which will be involved in the Great Carving.

Barrel Improvement Projects

All summer we have been making small changes to our barrel. Some of these are sprucing up some of the historic structures in our 100 year old barrel as well as enhancing some areas outside the barrel.

We replaced the front porch flooring and refinished the doors.

We added a fence in the spirit of our neighborhood as well as provide a barrier for small monkeys that love to run out into the street.

We completely replaced our back deck.

Demo time

Almost there....added a little landscaping

The finished product!

Future herb garden right outside Mama's kitchen.

Prost!

In honor of our German heritage and since we couldn't attend the REAL Oktoberfest this year, Familie Flora decided to host their own fest of sorts at the end of last month. Mama once again rolled up her sleeves to make a fine selection of German delicacies--sausage, Rotkraut, potato salad, pretzels, Black forest cupcakes, and Lebkuchenherz. Daddy provided refreshing beverages in true Bavarian spirit. Uncle T and Daddy wore their party hosen. Elias played until he was absolutely exhausted. A wunderbar time was had by all.

Hiking for Hemos

Last Weekend we ventured out to raise money and awareness for hemophilia. In fact, we pulled together a few of our friends to walk with us. Elias was definitely the leader of the pack...

A little rain did not slow us down.

Elias managed to walk, make that RUN almost 80% of the 2.5 mile walk.

With all our hard work, our team was able to raise over $1000! So then we got to let loose...
